Kasturba came to jail one day to fulfill the tradition of meeting in jail. A jail officer was present a little apart from both of them. He slipped away from there so that the couple could talk freely. After some time the jail officer came and saw that Ba and Bapu were sitting quietly on the bench. “Both of you are sitting quietly like this, not talking”, on being asked by the police officer, Gandhiji said, “According to the jail manual of meeting with us, a jail officer will be beside us at the time of our meeting, if you were not there then how could we talk? Saying, “You are blessed”, the jail officer kept walking.
