Opposition parties under the leadership of Congress had approached the Supreme Court It may be noted that the opposition parties led by the Congress had approached the Supreme Court alleging misuse of the Central Investigation Agency. In their petition, the opposition parties had alleged arbitrary use of central investigative agencies against the opposition leaders. Opposition parties had demanded to issue guidelines for the future. Apart from the Congress, the parties that filed the petition include Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Trinamool Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Nationalist Congress Party, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Janata Dal (United), Marxist Communist Party, Communist Party of India, Samajwadi Party and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference.
